Hello my lovely crocheters,

Today we’re diving into something very close to my heart — the daily chaos, joy, madness, and small-life-crises that come with being what I lovingly call a crazy crocheter.
If you recognized yourself just from that title… welcome home. 😄

I promise this won’t be too long, but it will be painfully honest.

🌙 The Midnight Scrolling Ritual

Let me confess something.

The most dangerous time of day for me isn’t morning coffee.
It isn’t lunchtime.
It isn’t even weekends.

It’s 10–11 PM, when normal people are preparing for sleep… and I’m preparing for Pinterest.

While the rest of the world slowly turns off their lights, I find myself deep-diving into:

  • new patterns
  • “must-try” stitches
  • designers from Brazil, Japan, and some tiny corner of the internet
  • color combinations I suddenly “desperately need”
  • yarn I obviously don’t have (and must immediately buy)

And the worst part?
I always, ALWAYS find the “perfect pattern” at 23:57.

My brain: Danka, go to bed.
Also my brain: But what if you start the project RIGHT NOW?
My body: Already in the crochet corner.

Somewhere in the distance, my husband sighs. He knew what he married.

🏃‍♂️ The Household of Two Obsessions

My husband is a passionate runner.
So while he talks about:

  • races
  • shoes
  • hydration belts
  • gels
  • fiber intake
  • how he “used to be 57 kg in peak shape”
  • and how his belly is “ruining his aerodynamic efficiency”

…I talk about:

  • new patterns I discovered
  • where to get yarn
  • how much money I spent on yarn
  • whether the mailman thinks I have a yarn addiction
  • what Nina stole from my project bag this time
  • which designer is a genius
  • which tutorial saved my sanity
  • and whether I need new hooks (again)

And honestly?
We’re the same.
Two nerds in love — he runs, I crochet, and we both have hobbies that threaten our wallets and each other’s patience.

Balance.

🎨 The Pattern I Must Make (…and the Yarn I Suddenly Don’t Have)

Crocheters, you know this one.

You find a pattern. It’s beautiful.
You NEED to make it.

But suddenly:

  • none of your 20 shades of pink are the correct shade
  • the recommended yarn weight is the only one you don’t own
  • the designer suggests a hook that you obviously need
  • you open Temu “just to check”
  • ten minutes later, your wishlist is 80% bigger
  • you start fighting the urge to buy more eyes, noses, markers
  • even though you already have 200 of each

And of course you tell yourself:

“What if my favorite stitch marker breaks?”

Yes, you have 50 backups.
No, that does not matter.

This is who we are.

😅 If You Recognized Yourself… Welcome

If anything I wrote made you smile, cringe, or look at your overflowing yarn boxes…

Congratulations.
You, my friend, are also a crazy crocheter.

Not crazy as in “unhinged.”
Crazy as in passionate, creative, and slightly too invested in fluffy animals made of yarn.

And your partner probably has their own “crazy” hobby too — so it’s all balanced out in the universe.

💛 Before You Go…

Tell me in the comments:

  • Do you also scroll for patterns at midnight?
  • Does your yarn magically reorder itself online?
  • Do you know someone just as crochet‑obsessed as me?
  • Or… what emotion did this post give you? I’m curious!

See you in the next one — and happy crocheting, everyone. 🧶✨
