Welcome to my very first Happycapy blog post!
It feels a bit like standing on a stage with a microphone I definitely did not ask for, trying to introduce myself to the internet while also not spilling my coffee. But here we are. And honestly? I’m excited to share this part of my world with you.
So let’s start from the beginning — who I am, why I crochet, and how Happycapy became the emotional support brand I never knew I needed.
🧶 Who am I? I’m Danka, living in Slovakia with my husband and our calico cat, Nina — the boss, the supervisor, the break enforcer, the yarn thief… the whole management team, really.
I’m relatively new to crocheting toys. I didn’t learn it from my grandma, and I definitely didn’t inherit magical crafting genes. I simply picked up a hook one day, followed a pattern, and suddenly found myself building an entire universe out of soft things, colors, and “wait, how did I lose count again?” moments.
Crochet became my place. My joy. My therapy.
My lifeline on days when my body and mind feel unpredictable.

🔄 Crochet, Snacks & Humor — My Accidental Therapy Trio
I also live with PNES (psychogenic non‑epileptic seizures) — a condition that makes life unpredictable in the most inconvenient ways.
But humor is how I survive most things, and crochet is how I stay grounded.
Together, they form a surprisingly powerful combo.
Crochet slows my racing mind.
Snacks keep me alive.
And humor keeps me from taking myself too seriously.
This trio, combined with a lot of yarn and a tiny bit of chaos, became part of my daily healing routine. Crochet has given me a space to breathe, create, and feel steady when life feels anything but.
💛 How Happycapy Was Born
Happycapy didn’t start as a brand — it started as a joke with myself.
I’ve always loved capybaras. They’re calm, relaxed, soft little potatoes who simply exist and everyone loves them.
That’s the energy I wanted to bring into crochet:
✨ calm
✨ cozy
✨ friendly
✨ simple
✨ and a little chaotic
So Happycapy became the name for everything I create — a mix of therapy, creativity, humor, coziness, and joy.
And Nina, of course, took over as CEO.
📝 Sharing Patterns the Right Way
Like many crocheters, I learned by following the amazing work of other designers.
I admire them deeply, and I always credit them — their patterns helped me grow, experiment, and find my own style.
So on this blog you’ll see:
✔ patterns from other designers (always credited!)
✔ my own original Happycapy patterns
✔ behind‑the‑scenes chaos
✔ creative fails and wins
✔ stories about Nina “helping”
✔ thoughts on navigating PNES
Crochet is something we learn from each other — stitch by stitch, mistake by mistake, moment by moment.
💛 Thank You for Being Here
Really — thank you.
This blog is a mix of emotions, humor, yarn, therapy, and tiny chaotic adventures.
I hope that in sharing my world, my creations, and my PNES journey, someone out there feels a little less alone, a little more inspired, or simply enjoys the soft cozy chaos of it all.
With love, yarn, coffee, and a cat on my lap,
Danka
